HAC crashing at launch
« on: June 21, 2011, 07:40:10 PM »
Anyone else have this problem?  I installed HAC, but when I ran the .exe, it crashed without ever launching.

I then found and read the installation steps.  I had only 64-bit JDK installed and my Android SDK was in Program Files.  So, I installed 32-bit JDK, uninstalled Android SDK and reinstalled it to android-sdk-windows, installed OGG, uninstalled and reinstalled HAC.

After all that, when I run the .exe, it stills crashes without ever launching.  I am on 64-bit Windows XP and my system path is D: drive, not C: drive (if that matters at all).

Many thanks for your detailed report here.

We have some path problems with this first release of HAC.

We'll also check about drive D: as the system drive because you won't be the only one in this situation.

Thanks for the response.  I double-click HAC.exe and after a few seconds, the Windows crash/error-reporting window appears with "HAC.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."  HAC does not appear to even finish loading/starting up.

HAC is based on HyperNext Studio and not long ago a user reported a similar problem and solved it using info on Microsoft website - perhaps it might help you - or perhaps its a HAC problem.

Here is that post in HyperNext Studio forums:-

Thank you for the help!  That worked.  Just have to figure out what was blocking HAC from loading.

Does HAC still have a problem loading - does it hang or give an error message?

No, it loads up fine now.  I got the Android path settings error message, but resolved that by manually pointing to the appropriate folders in my D: system drive.  Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I tried the link in the post above, but that no longer works. Can someone copy and paste the solution here? I've been going crazy trying to find a non-web based android app builder and I'm always hitting a roadblack. I found this software but it crashes in the same way mentioned in the other posts here. Help!

Just downloaded today and it still won't even load. Just crashes and closes. My computer is up to date with everything, and is windows 7. I really wanted to try this software as well.

Hello

We use Windows XP to develop HAC so it should run just fine.
I assume you installed using Admin mode.

The default empty project message sounds like something went wrong during installation or else that folder was moved.

In the My Documents folder there should be a folder called My Android and it should contain a sub-folder Default_CR

Have you previously installed HAC and had it running okay?

Which HAC installer are you using - Easy or Standard?

Hi Thanks for reply.

I tryied to install  both: safe mode as administrator(and dont install for safety policy, what is disabled) and regular boot as user. where was installed sucesfully but do not start, showing that related errors.

that folders you said are there.

this program never run. not even  start . so its impossible to go to related menu pointed on help file to fix something wrong.

I had all required programs previously installed so i downloaded that smaller version.
are there some file to edit or any batch to fix this paths?
