Running app with GPS
« on: April 01, 2012, 11:03:56 AM »
Hi,

I still havn't done much with HAC yet as still learning the language.

Anyhow, would it be possible to build a running (jogging) GPS app that measures distance covered with split points, start, pause,  and stop functions?
My route has a section where the mobile netwrok isn't available so how to cope with it?

Hi

There is a GPS demo project that shows how to get GPS data readings - it is number 19 on our projects web page and is also installed with HAC.
The GPS project has 3 options:- GPS data acquisition from Satellite, from Mobile network, and from both sources together.

Perhaps before doing any coding you could try the GPS demo app on your route - and see if the Satellite works in the mobile dead-zone.
Note, on some devices Satellite mode uses a lot of battery power and of course it can take a while to get the first satellite fix.
