Can HAC handle physical keyboard
« on: August 18, 2011, 07:40:53 PM »
Hello, forums

Is HAC able to handle a physical keyboard that some smartphones have or does it only work with the software on-screen  keyboard.
What happens when a user flips their phone open so the physical keyboard comes into play?
I don't have a smartphone with a physical keboard so how should my app handle this? Does my program need to check for this and take appropriate action?

Hi Paula

Yes, a HAC built app shouldn't have any problems with a physical keyboard and its scripts shouldn't need any extra code to handle one.

We have tested HAC on both a G1 smartphone as they have a slide-out physical keyboard and on a tablet that supports plugging in an external USB keyboard. In both cases when the physical keyboard wasn't active the HAC app automatically used the soft keyboard.
